How To Wager At Blackjack

When inside a casino, there are rules to follow while playing a table game such as the blackjack. Try to observe the players first if you’re not so sure how to place a bet the proper way.

On the blackjack table just in front of you, you will find a circle or box where to place your bets. Your bet should be placed in one stack before the dealer starts the game. If your bet is composed of multiple denominations of chips, remember to place those with larger values on the bottom of the stack. The chips with smaller values should be on top.

Once the dealer gives out your cards, it is a no-no to touch the bet inside the circle. If you want to know how much you have bet for say, doubling or splitting, the dealer will count the chips for your. But remember not to touch the chips yourself. Once the hand is done, the dealer will go around the table to each position to pay winners and get the chips from losing hands. You can only remove your chips from the circle after the dealer pays you. You can then place your next bet. If, for example, you want to add your winnings to your original bet, you should still form just one and only stack of chips. Keep in mind that the bigger-value chips should be on the bottom.

If you want a split, take note that you must bet the same amount as your original bet. You should place your second bet beside the original bet inside the circle. The dealer will then separate your two cards and will consider them as two separate hands.

If you want a double down, you are allowed to double your bet. So it’s either the same amount as your original bet or less, if you want. It is only after you have increased your bet can you draw one and only additional card.

As for the insurance bets or also called side-bets, your maximum bet is only half of your original bet amount. The bet is termed insurance because of the fact that it somehow protects your original bet against a dealer blackjack. If the dealer has a blackjack, you lose your original bet but you break even with your side-bet. But if the dealer does not have a blackjack, you still have your original bet despite losing your insurance bet.
