I know that though most of us are avid blackjack players, perhaps only a handful of us have ever thought about actually learning how to deal. If you think about it, how hard can it be to deal cards at a blackjack table? Yet did you know that you have to be professionally trained before you can deal blackjack in a casino? This actually applies to other table games with dealers.
I don’t know when this notion hit me but I thought that it would be interesting to learn how to deal professionally. Though I probably would not leave my day job to be a dealer in a casino, the learning experience could be quite interesting.
There are various gaming schools where one can learn to be a dealer. Most professionals choose a game or two to specialize in. The gaming schools usually have flexible schedules, which will be easy to fit into your schedule. I was thinking about the cost though. I wonder if it would be worth it? I did a bit of research and saw admission fees ranging from $500 to $2000. I think it depends mostly on the length of the course and how extensive it is.
The admission requirements also vary from school to school and state to state. In Nevada and New Jersey for example, you must be at least 21 years old by the time you are scheduled to finish the course.
As of now, this is all talk – just plans. But who knows? Being a certified blackjack dealer would be cool, wouldn’t it?
